If you don’t know this guy, then now is the perfect time to listen in to an amazing man.
I had the opportunity to interview him after reading his book:
DRIVEN: My Unlikely Journey from Classroom to Cage
We cover a great deal of his story that is within the book, there are many entertaining aspects, but one of the coolest things I thought was just what a classy, wholesome, good-natured guy this killer is!
While reading the book it was easy to tell that while he worked hard and made it to the top he remained 100% humble, honored his relationships and valued dearly his friendships and family.
From his website:
In 2007, he left the comfort of his hometown and full-time job as a Spanish teacher to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.
What started out as a dream soon turned into reality. He fought at every level of the industry, including an 11-fight UFC career. After upsetting #6 ranked Rick Story in 2011, his life changed as he skyrocketed into the world rankings and went head-to-head with the best fighters in the world, such as UFC Champion Johny Hendricks and current top-ranked light heavyweight Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.
The key ingredient in his climb to the top – HARD WORK.
From his website:
I’ve transitioned my experiences as a professional fighter into professional speaking and mentoring.
Having fought the scariest men on Earth, taught junior and senior high Spanish, won a reality TV show on national television and read incessantly for many years, I call upon my matrix of personal experience and knowledge to inspire you, challenge you and make you believe.
I’ve been knocked out cold on live television, and I’ve lived out my own “Rocky” story in front of a million people. Through traditional keynotes, workshops and Power Conversations, you’ll get an inside look at what it takes to compete, and win, at the highest levels.
